Planning Committee Minutes

June 16, 2017

The second Rock Hill High School Class of 1967 50th Reunion Planning Meeting was held June 16, 2017 at Rinehart Realty with the following present: John Rinehart, Racheal Thomas Cook, Bobbie Sue Short Chewning, Jean Faile Marshall, James Long, Martha Phillips Cook, Edward Cook, Billy Adkins, Marie Barrrett McDow, Charlie McDow, Barbara Smith Lazenby, Wayne Wingate and Annie Williams.

The following business was discussed:

Location for 50th Reunion will be at the City Club, downtown Rock Hill. John Rinehart is reserving

Food will be Heavy hors d'oeuvres based on the survey of the class.

Food Committee Volunteers – Rachael will be Chair, with John, Billy, Jean and Sue Rawls.

Decoration Committee Volunteers – Jean will be chair, with Bobbie Sue, Jim Pope Martha, Edward

and Billy.

Souvenir/memorabilia – Wayne is working on a DVD for the class

Marie agreed to continue to serve as Treasurer

On June 5, 2016 the following post was made in our Message Forum:

I am excited about our upcoming 50th reunion and seeing former classmates. I would like to suggest that the planning committee organize some sort of fund-raiser during our reunion for a non-profit organization in the Rock Hill area; e.g., an organization working with the homeless, hungry, or needing clothing, etc. We could take on sponsors for a fun run or walk; dance for an hour continuously, or some other way.  I believe that many of us have been blessed in our respective lives and hope that we would be willing to give back to the community which "raised" us.

Wayne is going to communicate with Ed regarding his suggestion.                                                                                                                     

We will survey the class on DJ vs Live Band since we now know the Band is at no charge.

The next meeting of the Committee is August 11, 20116, Rinehart Realty at 5:00 p.m.

 

 

Rock Hill High School Class of 1967

Planning Committee Meeting

May 12, 2016

 

The first Planning Committee meeting for the Class of 1967 was held at 5:00 p.m. at Rinehart Reality Conference Room with the following classmates attending:

Bo Boger, Barbara Smith Lazenby, Sue Rawls, Jean Faile Marshall, Rachel Thomas Cook, Caroline Mayo Roueche, Edward Cook, John Rinehart, Wayne Wingate, Charlie McDow, James Long and Annie Williams. This was an organizational meeting.  Please know that any classmate can join the Planning Committee at any time. The more involved the better our Reunion will be!!! The next meeting is scheduled for June 16th, 2016 at Rinehart Realty, 1339 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill.

Wayne Wingate agreed to be organizer and Annie Williams agreed to take notes. Wayne presented an agenda

  1. Dates for 50th Reunion - based on survey will be April, 2017 in conjunction with the 2017 Come-See-Me Festival – Friday night April 21 and Saturday night April 22, 2017. Mark your calendar!

  2. Location: Several places were discussed and committee members volunteered to check out.

    1. John Rinehart will look into City Club and a new facility going up in Waterford Park

    2. Caroline Mayo Roueche will lookher husband’s Studio (if here, it can be catered from outside and BYOB)

    3. Rachel Thomas Cook will look into the Garden Café in York

  3. Food

    1. Heavy hors d'oeuvres?

    2. Dinner (sit down)?

    3. All locations except Caroline’s will have a designated caterer you are required to use

    4. Jean said she would check with Melanie Rowe on catering options

    5. Caroline is going to check with School District caterer and what they provide

    6. Going to survey classmates on what they want

  4. Cost

    1. There is $800 in our account as of this time. (most probably will be used for mailings)

    2. Goal is no more than $50 per person

    3. Depends on location, food, music genre, drinks, souvenir, goody bag etc.

  5. Music

    1. Music is Important!!!

    2. Live Band? Caroline is going to check with Bobby Plair, Charlie is going to check into the Shakers, Wayne will check on Catalinas, Billy Adkins is to check on Weekends band

    3. Everybody put thinking cap on and come up with some suggestions, ask friends and neighbors

    4. We will survey class on type of Music they would like

  6. Decorations

    1. Location will determine

    2. Jean agreed to chair decoration committee and Wayne said Bobbie Sue Short Chewning offered to help

    3. Do we want a Theme? It was mentioned that our theme for our Senior Prom was An Evening in Paris

  7. Activities

    1. Friday Night April 20 – Pope Elrod parking lot /Come See Me Beach Bash. Jim Pope you need to start talking to your brother about this. If there, we will have to have saw horses to block driveways and need a tent and tables. It would be bring your own chair

    2. Saturday Night April 21 – Music, food, etc location will determine

    3. Power point of days gone by – going to ask classmates to email photos that they would like in presentation. OK everyone keep it clean – no mooning athletes!!

  8. GOCT - Get Our Classmates There 

    1. Annie is to send out list to all classmates the list of classmates who have not joined the Website. Classmates are to identify those they know and try to get them to join. The more we use the website the less funds spent on mailings

    2. Wayne thinks we may have to do 2 mailings but that would be to those who have note joined. (Pease note that we do have classmates’ emails and they do get mail from the site, HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOT FORMALLY JOINED! MAKE SURE THAT IS NOT YOU!)

    3. Barbara and Allen Burns are working on getting hard addresses of missing classmates. We will need a group of classmates to follow up with this list

    4. Reminder to all classmates’ YOU and YOUR spirit are what makes our Class, so please reserve the dates and plan to come!!!

Reminder next meeting for June 16th, 2016 at Rinehart Realty, 1339 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill. Come one come all and help plan our 50th!! Send emails and give us ideas!!
