Gone but never forgotten.  He was a good friend.

When I wrote these words, I was being PC.  Jesse lived his life in denial in front of all of us.  After he went into the Air Force, I think he finally came to grips with his true nature. He came to see me once after he went in and had been on tour in the middle east.  He told me then that he had met someone and he was okay.

Funny, we all knew he was gay, only he,  couldn't seem to accept that fate or the stigma attached.  He spent a lot of time trying desperately to be "straight" and for that I feel very sorry  and even a little responsible.  Our lack of understanding and acceptance of those who are just born differently was unfortunately a sign of our time.

Since those ignorant days of the 1960's,  I have had to deal with the death of friends, family and acquaintances. All who were lost, too young, to the terrible epidemic that AIDS/HIV came to be.

So to you, sweet Jessie, my friend, you were loved!
