Charles Larry "Barney" Russ

Charles Larry Russ COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Charles Larry Russ, 63, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial at a later date. The family will receive friends 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Mr. Russ died Friday, March 22, 2013. Born in Wilmington, N.C., he was a son of Barbara Bordeaux Russ of Lancaster and the late Charles A. Russ of Rock Hill. After graduating from Rock Hill High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in Utapao, Thailand at the Udorn Air Force Base. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Claudia Rhodes Russ; his daughter, Carolyn L'Artigue Russ and her fiance', Andrew Briggs of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brother, George E. Russ of Rock Hill; sister, Barbara Russ Kennington. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Dorn VA Hospital-Warriors Walk for their love, support and compassion extended to Larry and his family. Larry Russ was a good friend of mine. every time I talked to him he made me laugh! I called him Barney and you could not ask for a better friend! Rest in peace and I will think of you often! Your Friend Billy Adkins

Larry and I played trumbone in Jr. High - the ONLY 2 trumbones in that glorious band.
