Karon Torrence

Karon Alene Torrence (Tucker) passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 following a courageous battle with cancer of the larynx. Karon was born Aug. 17, 1948 in Charlotte and grew up in Rock Hill, S.C. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Martha Torrence; her brother, Rick Torrence; and her only child, daughter, Priscilla Leigh Tucker. Karon graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with a degree as a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant and from Catawba College with a BA in psychology. Her career included renovating a historic home in West Jefferson to become the owner and host of the Buffalo Tavern Bed and Breakfast for several years. She also provided LPTA services in Rowan, Iredell, Watauga and Ashe counties with agencies including Total Care, Home Health Professionals, MedTherapy, Gentiva and several others. She retired from Kindred at Home/Statesville. Karon loved golden retrievers and Shiloh shepherds and was a proud pet mom of Shaylon, Cooper, Greta and Harper. Karon is survived by cousins and extended family in North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland as well as friends, work colleagues and her beloved golden retriever, Harper. Arrangements: At Karon's request no services will be held. A special thank you to her neighbors Susan and Kathy, to Dr. Amin and his staff and to the Novant Health Hospice home health staff who provided Karon with much appreciated compassionate care. Memorials: Karon would be pleased with memorials made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
