J. Allen Cooper

John Allen Cooper WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - John Allen Cooper, 65, lost his battle with cancer on Feb. 22, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla. Born in Rock Hill, S.C., he was the son of the late Otterree Cooper. Mr. Cooper was employed in telecommunications management until his retirement. He was a Rock Hill High School graduate, U.S. Army veteran and also a Mason. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and NASCAR. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Jane Cooper of Winter Haven, Fla.; mother, Jennie Wray; stepfather, Ben Wray of Rock Hill; two daughters, Crystal Cooper of Rock Hill, and Lisa Morris (Marty) of Waxhaw, N.C.; two step-children, Tammy Strickhorn (Paul) and Billy Morris (Dsiree) of Winter Haven, Fla.; four siblings, Jeneice Denman (Mack) of Belton, S.C., Stacy Cooper (Sharon) of Fort Lawn, S.C., Eddie Wray and Karen Nicosia (Brian) of Rock Hill, S.C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; one aunt, Betty Branigan of Rock Hill, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Chappell officiating. Burial will follow in Lando Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, Rock Hill, S.C.
