Diane Gaulden (Wicker)

Diane Wicker

Kinston-Having full assurance of eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Frances Diane Gaulden Wicker closed her eyes to this world and opened them in her heavenly home on June 25, 2021. Diane was born in York County, South Carolina to the late Willard Gaulden and Frances Scoggins Gaulden. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Gaulden.

Living a life full of love, Diane made her relationship with God her top priority. Family was next on the list, and the love and care she showed for her “babies” and “grandbabies” was incomparable. Their happiness and well-being were the focus of Diane’s existence.

Growing up with a brother and sister, the sibling bond grew stronger as each day passed. From early days sharing a love of dancing to more recent excursions, nothing could quite compare to her time with them. A favorite pastime was traveling to the beach with her mama and sister where the three could relax in the salt air and cool breeze, spending hours sitting on the front porch chatting and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.

With an eye for beauty and a natural talent, Diane could take a blank canvas and bring it to life with a little paint and a brush. From detailed landscapes to still-life compositions, her artistic abilities were the envy of all who enjoyed her artwork. Her well-manicured yard was just as beautiful, as she enjoyed maintaining a beautiful flower garden. One of her most valued belongings was the prized Peppermint Peach Tree in her yard. Her memory and legacy will continue to live on with her family as she shared saplings of this tree with her sister and niece.

There was always a soft spot in Diane’s heart for all God’s creatures. She was particularly fond of cats, loving all of her kitties—especially “Sunny” whom she adopted as her own while at the beach.

A service to celebrate and remember Diane’s life will be held privately for the family in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating.

In addition to her mother, Diane is survived by her loving children, Tracy West and husband, Marty, and Barry “Petes” Wicker; grandchildren, Macy and Lucas West; and sister, Angie Tinker.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Tracy West for the steadfast care and abundant concern for her mom during her sickness.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Diane’s life may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA, PO Box 1481, Kinston, NC 28503. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
