Rebecca Harper (Thrower)

Rebecca Harper Thrower of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 16th.

Becky was born on March 2, 1949, in Charlotte, NC to Roland T. Harper and Emma N. Harper and grew up in Rock Hill, SC, graduating from Rock Hill High School. She attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC for one year and then transferred to Winthrop University in Rock Hill where she received a BA degree in History with honors in 1970.

Becky and her loving husband Bob married in May of 1970 and then moved to Atlanta where they lived for thirty-eight happy years. Their son Scott was born in 1977. Becky was a paralegal for several years and then a full-time homemaker and mother. The couple retired to Hendersonville in 2008.

Becky enjoyed traveling with family, hiking, reading, volunteering, and bible studies. She dearly loved her family and cherished her time with her son Scott and granddaughter Goldie. Becky loved the North Carolina mountains, cocker spaniels, decorating, and antiquing. She operated an antique booth on Main Street in Hendersonville for several years. She was a long-time member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, followed by Hendersonville Presbyterian Church beginning in 2009. She loved the Lord and her family deeply.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her husband Robert E. Thrower; son Scott E. Thrower; granddaughter Goldie Harper Thrower; her brother Roland T. Harper Jr (wife Lucille); her sister-in-law Kathryn Johnson (husband Charles); and several cousins and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Hendersonville Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 24th, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hendersonville Presbyterian Church. Church Street Funeral & Cremation is assisting the family.
