Robert Christopher Hood was born in York County on December 16, 1948 and died on December 28, 1971 from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in rural Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  Christopher was the son of Avery Douglas Hood, Sr. and Nelma Hooper Hood.  Christopher was a U.S. Army soldier and UNC student at the time of his death.  He is interred in Laurelwood Cemetery near his parents.
